About two-thirds of all burned area was shrub vegetation. About 10% of the burned area was conifer or hardwood forests. Nearly half of the shrub vegetation was rated as an extreme fire threat, while grassland (herbaceous) rarely has more than a very high fire threat. Forest types are typically between grass and shrub types in their fire threat ratings.
