  Proposition 40 Fuels Reduction Program

   My CA
 Fuels Reduction Program

CDF has begun implementation of a new fuels reduction program funded by Proposition 40, the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002. The goal of the CDF Prop. 40 Fuels Reduction Program is to reduce wildland fuel loadings that pose a threat to watershed resources and water quality.

Nonfederal lands in fifteen Sierra Nevada counties are eligible for the Prop. 40 Reduction Program: Butte, Plumas, Sierra, Yuba, Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Madera, Mariposa, Fresno, and Tulare.

CDF has developed maps to aid in the identification of high priority areas for fuels reduction projects to protect watersheds and water quality. These county-based maps are based on California Fire Plan data that indicate watershed and water quality assets at risk of being adversely impacted by wildfire.

Projects outside of the above priority areas will be considered for funding as well, as long as the applicant can demonstrate the project's watershed and/or water quality protection values.

CDF is implementing the Prop. 40 Fuels Reduction Program through the three existing CDF programs shown below. Click on each of the links for information on application process and timelines, eligibility, and other program details.
